Frequently Asked Questions

Are visual signature annotations legally binding?
In many standard jurisdictions, basic visual markings represent valid approvals for general trade invoices, receipts, and internal contracts. However, complex legal, financial, or government items may require cryptographically verified Advanced (AES) or Qualified (QES) digital signature certificates. UtilVox provides visual overlay signatures.
How secure is my signature drawing process?
Extremely secure. All canvas renderings and vector coordinates are processed locally inside your active browser environment. No documents or sensitive image layers are saved permanently on our servers.
Can I copy and place multiple elements?
Absolutely. You can place as many signatures, date markers, initials, or checklist elements as needed on any page inside the document layout, repositioning them seamlessly using intuitive drag-and-resize selectors.

Signing PDFs Without Printing Them

The four kinds of e-signature

Not all signatures on a PDF are the same thing, and knowing which one you're applying avoids awkward conversations later:

TypeWhat it isBest for
Drawn signatureYour signature drawn with mouse, finger or stylusEveryday contracts and forms
Typed signatureYour name in a script fontInternal approvals, low-stakes sign-offs
Image signatureA photo/scan of your wet-ink signatureMatching how your signature looks on paper
Certificate-based digital signatureCryptographic identity certificateHigh-stakes legal and government filings

Are e-signatures legally valid?

In most jurisdictions, yes for ordinary agreements — Pakistan's Electronic Transactions Ordinance (2002), the US ESIGN Act and the EU's eIDAS all recognize electronic signatures. Practical caution still applies: certain documents (property transfers, some court filings) may require wet ink or certified digital signatures, and requirements vary by country and document type — when the stakes are high, confirm what the receiving party accepts. Whatever you sign, keep your own dated copy.

A sensible signing workflow

Assemble the full document first — merge annexes before signing so nobody can claim pages were added afterwards. Sign, then optionally password-protect the signed copy or stamp it with a watermark like “Executed copy”. Your file is processed in your browser — an unsigned contract never touches a server here.
