Common Questions
Exact Age, Because 'About 25' Doesn't Fill Forms
Where age-to-the-day decides outcomes
Most of the time your age in years is enough. Then a form asks for it on a specific date, and one day matters:
| Situation | What's checked | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Government job applications (FPSC/PPSC/NTS) | Age on the closing date | Over-age by one day disqualifies |
| School admission | Age on a cutoff date (often start of session) | Cutoffs vary by board and school |
| Visa and immigration forms | Exact age at application or travel date | Dependent-child limits are strict |
| Sports and competitions | Age on event date or year start | Category rules differ per federation |
| Retirement and pension | Exact date of reaching the threshold | Benefits start dates depend on it |
Age on a date — not age today
The mistake that gets applications rejected: calculating age today when the rule says age on the deadline. If the limit is “under 30 on 31 December”, set the calculator's reference date to 31 December, not to today. Leap years are handled correctly here, including the 29 February birthday case — legally treated as 1 March in non-leap years in most jurisdictions.
Beyond birthdays
The same calculation answers non-birthday questions: how old is this contract, how long since an employee joined, the precise gap between two events — the date difference calculator handles arbitrary date-to-date spans, and the week number tool places a date in the ISO calendar. Counting down to a deadline instead? That's the countdown timer.
